Thinking about getting a new set of golf clubs. Help me out?

A.J. L asked:

Ok so im 14 and about a 12 handicap my swing speed is around 100 mph and I was thinking about working all summer to get the clubs below. Let me know what you think...

Driver- Taylormade Burner 460 Ti stiff

Fairway- Taylormade Burner 3 wood steel stiff

Irons- Titleist 755 irons 3-pw (regular and stiff steel shafts? I dont know the difference)

Putter- Taylormade Rossa Daytona classic 34''

And does custom fitting your clubs help alot even if your going to be growing in the next couple of years, and how much to they usually cost to get fitted.

Thanks Guys

AJ

All are nice choices but why spend so much money on golf equipment at your age? Custom fitting is a good idea and you can always have your clubs adjusted later on. I don’t know what your swing speed is with your irons but I guess you’ll find the right flex when your fitted. I prefer to have a softer flex in my irons. I have a smoother slower rythm swinging my irons as opposed to my driver. Not always the case but stiffer steel shafts equal more accuraccy.

The Burner Fairway wood is an awesome club. Try the driver also. You may prefer the Burner over the R7 460. Personally don’t like the looks of the 755s. Also try to get a decent hybrid. Hybrids are so versatile and it’s way easier to hit off bad lies than your longer irons.

    Good luck buying your clubs.

I have Callaway Fusion irons, these things are the bomb. So straight and easy to hit. I’m thinking of getting the Titleist 907 D1 driver w/i the next couple of weeks. Hope everything works out with you.

Those are great clubs. Don’t get custom fit while you’re still growing. Also, get a 3-Hybrid, not a 3-iron.

And, what about wedges? Get Taylormade Rac Black tp’s or Titleist Vokey Spin Milled.
