I’m going to ignore the obvious opportunity to make fun of this question… even in Seattle, it does not rain all the time, even in winter. Many other places get far more rain than Seattle. I live in Bogota, Colombia and it rains here for months at a time. But, as long as you can live with limited roll on your tee shots, the benefits of softer greens more than offset the distance lost off the tee. And for those of us with sun-sensitive skin, the overcast skies limit the sun exposure and the cancer risk as well.
One of the nicest golf courses I ever played was across the Sound from Seattle, on Vancouver Island; it is called Olympic View and the name is appropriate. From several holes, you can see the Olympic Range in Washington across Puget Sound.
Besides, if people in Alaska can play golf in winter snow and ice using organge balls, why can’t people in the Pacific Northwest play in the rain?
