Can i make it the pga/nationwide tour?

I'm currently a 1.8 handicap, and i shot a 78 from the tips today at Bethpage black. I'm moving to Hilton Head in January to go to school and work like all hell on my game. The school I'm going to has a ridiculous teaching and practice facility and an ex tour pro that works with all the students. Not to mention that I'm going to get free golf at A LOT of courses. So what do you think my odds are?

Much better than most golfers. Good luck, remember to work on your short game, and remember us poor duffers when you win big.

Well you can try out for a tournament. A 78 is pretty good i don’t see why not. Especially if you are going to get instructions. Just be sure to prepare for pressure. And work alot at this. Never under estimate the power of the short game. I would say your chances are good. And even if you can’t get into the pros you can donimate at local tournments. Which could eventually. Help. Also remember if you can’t get it young there is always the senior tour. So you dream can pretty much live on forever.

Congrats on moving on to the next stage in your development!
If your goal is to become a pro, you’re off to a great start. You obviously have some skill and it sounds like you have a good work ethic.
Now, here’s the tough news – guys who are scratch golfers are a dime a dozen. There are heaps of them out there. The pros, on the other hand, are so good at what they do, it’s scary. Be prepared to work like you’ve never worked before, and also be prepared to spend some time playing in tournaments and on tours that are far less than glamourous. Dig deep and find a passion and a work ethic that is unrivalled; by doing that you’ll be giving it your most honest shot.

The odds are all up to you – the bad news (coming from someone that gave the dream a shot) is that being a pro golfer in the south is like being an actor in LA – you’re also a waiter.
Work hard and make sure you get an education – that way, either way you’re all set – you’ll have a great work ethic and have your eyes wide open for any and all opportunities that come your way.
BTW, I shot 69 from the tips at the Black – but I played way back before the renovations for the Open.
