5 out of 5 stars What I needed   June 29, 2009

Bought this after reading every review I could find on amazon. It seemed like most nets had people that loved them and people that hated them. I wanted something that was easy to put up and take down since I did not plan on keeping the net up at all times. I am pleased with my selection. The net takes less than 1 minute to set up. Once up, it can be staked into the grass if necessary. I live in a very windy area and 1 stake is usually strong enough to keep it anchored. It is much larger than the pictures make it look once it is set up. The poles can be inserted into two different sets of holes, allowing the angle of the net to be adjusted from more upright to more angled. I have hit everything from my driver to my lob wedge into the net. I have only missed the net once when I hit a flop over the net into the neighbor's yard. Along with the net, I purchased a mat through amazon to save myself the fun of putting new sod down after my yard becomes covered in divots. The net and mat work great together. Amazon's price was impossible to beat.

Just got it, it's very easy to set up (nothing to do besides set up the two poles and the straps to hold them in place). Just do the opposite to take it down. Fully recommend it.

For starters, this thing did not arrive new. The box had clearly been opened and was taped shut about a hundred different ways with packing tape. I can see why. Good luck getting it in the box again, especially following their folding instructions.

Though this looks like a sturdy, free standing net, it really isn't. It has collapsible poles and straps that need to be adjusted perfectly or the net just droops. On top of that, it really does need to be staked into the ground to hold its shape properly, which didn't work well since I need to use it on a brick patio. That was very disappointing as the picture makes it look free standing.

Once I finally had it set up, it functioned okay, but it's a bit flimsy and awkward. I opted to return mine. I don't see this lasting well and having to set up with the poles and straps was too much of a pain.

I went with the izzo big mouth net. It's about $30 more, but the quality seems a lot better. Buy a net without collapsible poles. My Izzo net flips open and closed easily and really does free stand.

UPDATE:

With a little practice I can setup or take down my freestanding Izzo net in about 30 seconds. Get a free standing net. This one takes a while to setup and take down due to the poles.
